Privacy policy

This page explains what information this website collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We've kept it short and plain.

The short version

  • We collect what you choose to send us, plus basic details about how the site is used.
  • We use it to reply to you and to make the site work better.
  • We never sell your information, and we don't use it for ads.
  • You can ask Jo to show you, fix or delete what we have about you.

Who we are

Lux Glo by Jo is a one-person facial studio in Oxnard, California, run by Jo, an esthetician. Because it's just Jo, “we” and “us” in this policy mean Jo and Lux Glo by Jo.

This policy covers this website, lux-glo.com. It doesn't cover Square's booking pages or the other websites we link to.

What we collect

When you send a message

Our contact form asks for your name, your email and your message. Your phone number and the treatment you're interested in are optional.

Only share what you're comfortable with. You don't need to send health details. Jo will talk about your skin with you at your visit.

When you call, text or email

We get your phone number or email address, and whatever you tell us.

When you visit the website

Like most websites, ours collects some details on its own when you visit:

  • the pages you look at, and the buttons you tap, like Book now or Call
  • the type of device and browser you use
  • your rough location, like your city, worked out from your internet address
  • the website or search that brought you here

These details tell us how the site is used. They don't tell us your name. See Cookies and visit counts for the tools we use.

The spam check on our form

Our form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a real person is sending it. It looks at details from your browser and device, like your internet address and browser type. It doesn't read what you type in the form, and it won't ask you to solve a puzzle. Cloudflare explains more in its Turnstile privacy addendum.

When you book

Booking happens on Square's website, not ours. Square collects your booking details under its own privacy notice for customers. Jo then sees your booking so she can get ready for your visit.

How we use your information

  • to answer your questions and plan your visit
  • to keep spam and abuse off the website
  • to see which pages and buttons help people, so we can make the site better
  • to follow the law, if we ever have to

We never sell or rent your information. We don't use it for ads, and we won't add you to a mailing list unless you ask.

Who we share it with

We only share information with companies that help run this website or Jo's business, and only so they can do that job:

  • CloudflareHosts this website, runs the spam check on our form, counts visits, and sends form messages to Jo's inbox.
  • GoogleGoogle Analytics shows us how the website is used. Google also runs Jo's email inbox, where your messages arrive.
  • SquareRuns our online booking, if you book.

We may also share information if the law says we must, or to protect someone's safety.

Cookies and visit counts

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Here's what this site uses:

  • Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and to tell new visitors from returning ones. It shows us totals, not who you are. We've turned off Google's advertising features.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile runs only on the contact page, to stop spam.

Google and Cloudflare collect these details from your visit to our site and handle them under their own policies. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Cloudflare's privacy policy.

How to say no

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. You can also turn off Google Analytics on every website with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. Most websites don't change what they do when they get one, and this site doesn't either. You can still block cookies or use Google's opt-out add-on.

How long we keep it

  • Messages, texts and emails: these stay in Jo's email inbox and on her phone. If you'd like yours deleted, just ask.
  • Google Analytics: detailed visit records are deleted automatically after 14 months. Overall totals, like how many people visited in a month, can be kept longer. They don't identify anyone.

How we protect it

This website uses a secure connection, so what you send is scrambled on the way. The website doesn't keep a copy of your message. It goes straight to Jo's inbox.

No website can promise to be 100% safe, but we take good care of your details.

Your choices

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we have about you
  • fix anything that's wrong
  • delete it

Just email Jo at luxglo@gmail.com, or call or text 805-744-5545. We'll reply within 30 days. We may need to check it's really you first. We'll delete your information unless the law says we have to keep it.

Children

This website isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child under 13 has sent us details, contact Jo and we'll delete them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If it's a big change, we'll also add a note at the top of this page for 30 days.
